What’s Sukkah in the Park & Party to You?
Sukkah in the Park & Party to You is way to celebrate Sukkot is a safe, socially distanced manner. Chabad of Michigan is bringing the Sukkah Mobile to you! There will be safe public celebrations across Michigan in parks and other locations. We can also arrange a private Sukkah party at your home or office for you to enjoy the holiday, grab a bit to fulfill the Mitzvah of eating in the Sukkah, and shake the Lulav & Etrog (and maybe some other fun holiday games & crafts too!). Some of the safety requirements include:
*Only members of one household may be in the Sukkah together
*Snacks will be pre-packed in individual servings
*All guests will be required to use (your own or provided) hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes upon entering the sukkah, before holding the lulav
*All visitors to the Sukkah must wear masks
*Social distancing will be observed at all events, both in and out of the Sukkah
What’s The Sukkah Mobile?
The Sukkah is a temporary hut for outdoor dwelling, consisting of three or four walls constructed for use under the stars. It's roof is topped with natural tree branches and vegetation, known as Sechach.
The Sukkah Mobile is all that, on the move.
A Sukkah does not need to be stationed on the ground. As long as the Sukkah is a strong structure, covered with vegetation and beneath the open skies, the Sukkah is generally Kosher. (There are a number of guidelines and requirements that must be followed in its construction, and regarding the location where it is erected, in order for a sukkah to be deemed “kosher”—fit for use)
Adventurous Sukkah inventors have come up with many different innovative Sukkah creations, like ones fitted for camels and elephants, portable pop up Sukkah's, Pedi Sukkah’s and an 18 wheeler Sukkah mobile.
